Rathcroghan Visitor Centre is located in the medieval village of Tulsk, Co. Roscommon, within the royal complex of Cruachan, the oldest and largest unexcavated Royal Complex in Europe. Here there is a wealth of Mythology, Archaeology, History and Literature just waiting for you to discover.

Rathcroghan boasts a multitude of monument types, from the majestic and enigmatic Rathcroghan Mound, which in the Iron Age was impressively topped by wooden ramparts and ceremonial henges, and whose secret heart remains an untouched mystery. We are also home to the legendary Cave of Cruachan – Oweynagat (Cave of the Cats) which was described as the Hellsmouth of Ireland by fearful Christian scribes.

Rathcroghan Royal Site has been nominated to the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage status, which would elevate it to its rightful place of importance alongside Newgrange, and Skellig Michael. Rathcroghan Visitor Centre has also been awarded TripAdvisor Centre of Excellence for the fourth consecutive year - 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017.
