There are a vibrant and varied number of voluntary organisations in and around Abbey. They include:

1. Abbey Community Development Association:

This organisation has pioneered and leads the drive for Abbey village to be awarded Galway's Tidiest Town for six years in a row 2005 - 2010 inclusive.

2. Abbey Munitir Na Tire:

This organisation was set up in the 1950メs and promoted marquees and carnivals until the early 1970メs. It subsequently built the local Community Centre which is in much use today and is the centre of all local meetings and social events.

3. Abbey-Duniry Scouts Group:

This group was set up in recent years and caters for the young people in the local catchment area.

4. Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry GAA Club:

This club was formed in 2006 and is an amalgamation of the Tynagh and Abbey-Duniry GAA Clubs. This is the strongest of the local voluntary organisations with a large membership. Hurling is the dominant sport in the area. The club currently participates at senior level within the county and has many prominent players. The underage structure is also strong with a high level of membership and participation.

5. The Irish Farmers Association:

There is also a local branch of the I.F.A. in Abbey. Its membership is taken from farmers within the parish.
