Franciscan Friary & Desmond Castle
The 11th Century ruins of Franciscan Friary and 13th Century Desmond Castle, Askeaton, (castle not open to public at the moment for safety reasons) can be viewed from the bridge and river.
Anthony Sheehy is the local historian for Askeaton and does ‘walk & talk’ tours. These tours bring to life the memory of our place. There is a tourist info point in the town to book these tours.
The Flying Boat Museum
The Flying Boat Museum, Main Street Foynes.
Open from March to October holds a replica of a life- size plane on-site. Also has a shop, restaurant, parking & W.C.
