Thomas MacDonagh was an Irish patriot, poet, teacher and a leader of Ireland’s 1916 insurrection. He is celebrated here in his home town of Cloughjordan. Our museum showcases the story of MacDonagh and his family and the inspiring and enduring relationship they had with a small midlands town.

The MacDonagh family home has been transformed into an museum space dedicated to telling his story and that of his family. The centre includes material from the wider heritage of Cloughjordan and a gallery is included to showcase the latest in local talent. Research and archive facilities will also be available as the centre develops.
