The 1837 Tithe records for Moyacomb civil parish included the records for Monaughrim townland. If you go to the link and find line 43 you will see a Thomas Whelan. He leased around 30 acres of land. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004625701/004625701_00364.pdf

I did not find a Farnamotha in the Tithes for Moyacomb civil parish.

I did locate an 1840 baptismal record list for Clonegal RC parish and on line three there was a record for Ellen Whelan daughter of Thomas Whelan and Mary Kinsella living in Farnamotha. This appeared to be the only record showing Farnamotha. There were other records for Monaughrim.

Townlands were standardized around 1851 and some place names were merged into another placename and it is possible that Farnamotha was merged into Monaughrim which was a very large townland almost 1000 acres. I did see a Daniel Whelan in Monaughrim in the Griffiths Valuation records from the early 1850s.

Thank you for the information Roger. I have found baptisms for Farnamotha up to the late 1860's in Clonegal Parish register. On one such record post 1864 I found the civil record which referred to Monaughrim as parents townland . This is what led me to believe Farnamotha had been encompassed into Monaughrim.

The lady I am assisting is planning a trip to Ireland and hoping to find the farm which Thomas Whelan and his family occupied.
