/hi, my great great grandmother was born in Timoleague in 1844. Her name was Anne Hurley with parents named Joseph and Ann Hurley.  She emmigrated to the USA and lived in Milwaukee WI and Hartford WI until her death in 1888. Her husband was Daniel Mcgraw and they had 3 children, Margaret, Mary and William.   Does anyone know of any birth, baptismal, or marriage info for Ann?

Thank you everyone for your help

  • OBS,

Are you certain about her 1844 birth date? The church baptismal records for the RC parish of Timoleague began in 1842. I did not find Anne's record on the irishgenealogy.ie site under the church records tab. There was a record for a Mary Hurly born Aug 1844 to parents JS Hurly & Ellen Collins. I know not the mother's name you are seeking. However, the sponsors for Mary were J Collins and Anne Hurly - a possible relation.

Were Anne and Daniel married in the US or Ireland?

    Regards,

  • Thank you Carolyn.

She was born in 1844 per her tombstone in the :US.  She died in 1888. Look like her father was Joseph Hurley.  Uncertain where they were married but they came over in 1858. Let me work on the mother!

  • OBS,

Back in the mid 19th century, people did not note their birthdays as we do today. Whether she was born in 1844 or 1845 does not assist you in finding her birth record. On her death record from 1888, it states she was 48 years old which means she was born in 1840 - before records were kept for Timoleague. I don't think you will find her baptism record..I looked at the church tab on irishgenealogy.ie, but nothing came up. You say "they" came over in 1858, who are "they"? If she had an 1844 or 45 birth, then I don't think she married in Ireland as she would have been too young. An earlier birth of 1840, then it's possible...I didn't find a marriage record for them though. I did a search on the church records tab for Hurly (Hurley) baptisms between 1840 and 1850 with a father named Joseph, and there was none with a mother named Anne in Timoleague. Nothing came up for Timoleague at all. How certain are you that Timoleague was the parish she was from?

    Regards,
