Helping a friend trace her family. George Michael Morris married Mary Katherine Hannan in California about 1902. Mary's brother's obit said he was from Roberts Cove, Ireland, born about 1870. Mary's death record said her parents were Hannan and Shay. I've located a possible family in Tracton Abbey: Jeremiah Hannan married Catherine Shea in 1862, St Finbarr's, Cork City. They had the following children baptized in Tracton Abbey until the time the registers ran out in 1880: John 1863, James 1864, Michael 1865, Mary 1867, Margaret 1869, Kate 1871, William 1873, Daniel 1875, Hanna 1875, (Jo)Hanna 1876, Jeremiah 1878, Patrick 1880. The family said there were 16 children. Mary Katherine was born about 1880, so perhaps she and 3 others were born 1881 and beyond, but there is no further register.

Trawling the Tracton Abbey registers back a ways, there's a Catherine Shea born to Charles Shea and Catherine Sullivan, bap 3 May 1845; this is possibly Mary Katherine's mother Catherine's record. I see several other Shea families in Tracton about that time. I haven't seen any Hannan men, but 2 or 3 Hannan women married to others.

Does anyone have any advice? Also, what is the history of emigration from Tracton, Roberts Cove, etc?

Thanks in advance,

Judy
