About 1729, James MC ELROY, wife Sarah MC CUE, Rev. Irvine, MC DOWELLS, McCampbells, McKees sailed from Belfast to Philadelphia, PA. 1901 book by Rev. John M. McElroy " Scotch-Irish McElroys in America" states they came on ship "George and Ann" but McElroys are not listed among 1729 sailing of the George and Ann passengers (from the Charles Clinton diary).
Believe James & Sarah were married in County Down in May 1725, James being born abt. 1704 and Sarah abt. 1708. Her parents were (possibly) James McCue(n) and Sarah McDowell.
Children: John, Archibald, James, Hugh, Elizabeth, Mary, Samuel

I dont think the ships passenger list shows all 160 passengers so there is still a chance that they were on board, the problem is that the county down records do not go back as far as 1725

Thanks for your information and I'll write...do I address my letter to "Jeffrey M. Clinton" at that address? Just reading reasons for emigration: http://www.from-ireland.net/presbyterian-exodus-1729-longford/ and note there were, in March 1729, seven ships at Belfast carrying off about 1,000 passengers to America. So, my McElroys could have been on any one of the 7 but the "George & Anne" garnered all the publicity at the time and was the name remembered through the years until the 1901 book was written. Any leads to ships rosters during March 1729? Lucy

Ship rosters were hardly created at that time.
No you can just write to the The Orange County Genealogical Society, they will deal with it
