Hi JL . . .
Welcome to . . . . Ireland Reaching Out . . .
It was diffacult to know where to start with your query . . .
______________________________________________
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
___________________________________________________________
Tithes Applotment 1823 -1837 . . . a property Tax roll . . . shows . . one hit to that surname . .
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…
So . . I searched " Roots " (paid) . . with " Heron " and Donegal . . where I got one hit . . as follows . .
SurnameForenameTownland/StreetParishCountyYearHeronMathwHaw Taughboyne Donegal 1826.
This would indicate that Matthew Heron was the named Tenant//Property owner in 1826 . . . and the ONLY ' Heron'
showing up 'officialy' in Donegal . . in those years . . . SO . . we must assume . . that this is the family of your query.
__________________________________________________________________________
Next . . I searched the Official Census of 1901 //1911 . . . for Heron's . . of that Townland//Parish . .
with NO success . . .
there are many many Heron's showing in Co.Donegal in those years . . but not with those districts . . .
_____________________________________________________________
Next . . I had a look at the marriage . . of Thomas to Margaret Hunter . . .
Thomas . . listed address . . " Ballymagael" . . . ( couldn't find that location ) . . likely correct spelling BALLYMAGAN
Confirmed his Father was Edward . . . listed as ' Servant ' in occupatation . . ( not Tenant//Land Owner )
Witness on the Heron side . . . James Hunter
*********************************
Margaret Hunter . . . father listed as William Hunter (Farmer) . .
They gave their address as " Conwell" . . . correct spelling " Conwel " Letterkenny . . Witness ..Alexander Stewart . .

SO . . searching for Hunters . . . in Tithes (1823 - 1837) . . the following two hits . . .
SurnameForenameTownland/StreetParishCountyYearHunterWilliamGrawkey Beg Raymoghy Donegal 1826
HunterWilliamScion Urney Tyrone, Donegal . . . .
_____________________________________________________________
So . . searching the 1901 Census . . . for Hunter . . . I found one possible hit to the above . . .
Residents of a house 12 in Raymoghy (Manorcunningham, Donegal)

Next I searched . . . " Griffiths Valuation (1847 -1864) . . for Hunter . . and found a sizable number listed . . and in the townland of " Conwel" . . . but how you would begin to seperate families . . would be near impossible . .

I am not sure if any of the above . . advances your search . . . hopefully they might . .
Cheers . . Eamonn.

Thank you so much Eamonn! The only info of a place we have is the marriage of Thomas HERON and apparently he was in Ballymacool at the time (?). This all comes from a written document from a family member who is long deceased.
I have also learned that one of the daughters of William has listed Dublin as the place of Williams birth(?).
Any chance you could provide me a copy of Thomas' marriage record?
I have an Edward listed as visiting William and his new wife in 1851 here in Canada. His occupation listed as waiter so this could potentially confirm that Edward is the father and was visiting William in 1851 in Canada (Yay).
Thanks again! Appreciate your taking the time.
Jamie
