Does anyone have any information about the Mulvey / Mulvee family who lived in the Taughmaconnell area? My great great grandfather was Martin Mulvey who was born around 1832 in Ireland and moved to England with some of his brothers, Patrick, Andrew, John and Kieran. From records and certificates I know his father was Andrew Mulvey. The only Andrew Mulvey I can find in the Griffiths valuation rented land from George Newcomen in Camlagh, Taughmaconnell. I have also found a death certificate dated 1882 for Andrew Mulvee from Camla which was in Ballinasloe records. This seems to be the right sort of age (he as born around 1807) and his wife was called Bridget as far as I can make out. Another death certificate for an Andrew Mulvee dated 1868 was available. He could be the father of the other one as the dates work out. Any help would be appreciated.

I looked at transcriptions for the 1868 and 1882 civil death records for the two Andrew Mulvees. The 1882 record is very likely for your great-great-great grandfather. The 1868 record was for an Andrew Mulvee who died in the Ballinasloe workhouse. I'm inclined to say that the 1868 Andrew was not the father of the 1882 Andrew. Unless there was a falling out between the two, I don't think the older Andrew would have been in the workhouse if his son had a farm. They may be related but more work would be needed to confirm.
