Hello,

Despite my best efforts, I continue to hit a stumbling block with one of my ancestors - Bridget COLLINS who was married to Patrick GODFrEY. Believed born @ 1810.

Bridget COLLINS had at least three children with Patrick Godfrey and during this period 1830-1840 lived in Addergool beg, Dunmore, Galway.
Their known children were
William GODFREY baptised in Dunmore in 1833, Patrick in 1834 and Martin 1840.
It is not known if there were any other children.

Below are the names of the children’s Godparents - relations and neighbours (Greene & Connell)
Williams were Michael Godfrey and Eliza Godfrey
Patrick's were William Connell and Bridget Devaney
Martin's were Martin Greene And Bridget Godfrey.

We have undergone DNA testing and have identified links to  the Godfrey line through children Patrick & William), however we have been unable to find any information relating to son Martin.or what became of him.

The Collins link has proven to be more challenging, Whilst several links suggest a DNA connection to this line we cannot identify the family link that connects us together without further information,

I am really to try and identify the link to the COLLINS family and hopefully learn something more of Bridget and her family origins or parents names.

I am unsure where the Godfrey family may have lived/originated from before Dunmore.

If by chance, anyone can help it would be most appreciated. I am visiting in November and keen to visit my family origins.

Thanks so much for your time,

Dee

Hopefully, others will comment. I did look for death records from 1864-1900 for Godfreys in the Tuam registration district. Found 16 records. No John or Martin records and the two Bridget records did not fit with someone born around 1810. I did find a one year old Martin record in 1874. He was the son of Patrick. Likely John, Bridget and Martin all died prior to 1864 when civil registration started although it is possible that one or more may have died post-1863 but the death was not civilly registered.
