Looking for Thomas Hannan (and brothers). Thomas born about 1831 in Loughrea.  He married Anna Connolly, who was born about 1834 in Monivea.  They appear in New York about 1852-53 where first child is born. they are a Catholic family.

I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and there is a December 22 1827 baptismal record for a Thomas Hannan in the Leitrim RC parish which is fairly close to Loughrea. Father was Martin Hannan and mother Ellen lawless. Thomas had at least three siblings: Michael 1817 Ellen 1822 Bridget 1825. Leitrim parish appears to have a gap in records from June 1829 to September 1850 so any younger siblings born June 1829 or later would not have an available baptismal record.

I did not find a marriage record and also did not find a baptismal record for Anne in Monivea/Abbeyknockmoy parish.

Let me know if you think this is the correct family.

  • Hi Bill,

I am a descendant of Thomas' brother who married the sister of Thomas' wife Anna Connolly. My Hannan clan went out west to California during the Gold Rush while Thomas and his family went from NYC to the south. I have a photo of Thomas and family in the USA in my records and the California Sheriff's badge from Thomas' great nephew. If you can, send me a private message or an email address.

    Best,

    Lisa
