My ancestor Bridget Hobbs, was born in 1847 to Maria (Dignan) Hobbs and Thomas Hobbs in Killimore. She immigrated to New Zealand with her sister Catherine (Annie) probably around the 1880's, to help her uncle, Patrick Dignan and his wife with their children. Annie died in NZ in 1882. Bridget (who never married) came back, around or just after 1911, presumably to Ireland, after living in NZ for more than 30 years. This is a fact noted by a family historian. I have recently found a death record for a Bridget Hobbs, age 82 (not exactly the right age but close) who died in 1934 in Portumna. Would getting the death record, if it is even possible, give me any information that would help me decide if she is my relative? I think this might be Bridget because her sister Maria Hobbs, who married John Hough, still had family in Portumna. Thanks for your help.

The civil death record would show the informant's name. If the informant is a Hough then I believe you found the right Bridget Hobbs.

I just wanted to add an update. The death records I found was my Bridget Hobbs. Her nephew Michael Hough was the informant. I ordered the record from the GRO and they sent it very quickly! Thanks again for the advice!
