Looking for information that might help me verify or rule out my Anne Nolan as the daughter of Edward Nolan and Elizabeth Maria Hanley of Ballycrissane, Portumna. My research on this family has already determined that Edward (Ned) Nolan married Elizabeth Maria Hanley in 1853 Portumna, Galway. Although the baptism record for Denis Nolan (b1854) lists his parents as Ned Nolan & Cath, I suspect the mothers name was incorrectly confused with the witness. Mary Nolan’s baptism in 1856 lists her mother as Maria Hanly. Elizabeth was born 1858, my Ann born 1860. Son: Ed Nolan born 1866; died 1882. John Nolan born 1863 is a possible son, his parents being Ned Nolan and Bess or Brid Hanly. The father Ned Nolan died in 1878. It appears that Mrs Dolphin of London evicted the family in 1879, which corresponds with my Anne’s emigration to the US. Ed (Ned) Jr. died in Portumna 1882, the mother Eliz died in the workhouse in 1894. I am following up on a hunch that the Andrew Nolan living with my grt grandmother in 1895 was the son of Andrew Briggs. I lost track of Mary Nolan, her sister Elizabeth and Dennis Nolan. I am not in need of research assistance, I am looking for information from people that may be familiar with this particular family

  • Believe I located Denis Nolan living on Brewery Lane, Ennis, Clare by 1877. I found a marriage for Denis Nolan & Mary McNamara 10 Nov 1877, Ennis, Clare. They had 3 children Elizabeth (1878); Mary (1884) & Patrick (1885).  Denis died of Typhus Fever 15 Dec 1884, Ennis Workhouse. Would appreciate any help in determining what happened to Mary McNamara Nolan and her children.
