I am looking for information on Patrick Head from Carhoon (Carrew, Carrue) Tynagh.

The 1826 Tythe Applotments shows #37 Townland Skyarra, Carrue & Rahoon Occupiers Patt Head and Edmond Treacy Number of acres 226. On Feb. 14, 1814 Patrick Head married Bridget Tracy in Tynagh. The Witnesses were Ned Tracy & John Head.

My Treacy Family lived at Carhoon, Tynagh. I think that there is a good possibility that this Edmond Treacy was related to my Gr.-Gr.-Grandfather Patrick Treacy & his brother Nicholas Treacy who is living at Carhoon in the 1857 Griffiths Valuations. Edmond might be their Father or Uncle. The above references are all that I can find about Edmond Treacy. There is a good chance that the Bridget Tracy who married Pat Head in 1814 is also related to my particular Treacy Family, she might be the daughter of Edmond Treacy, but that is just a possibility without any real proof.

I found a 2013 Tynagh Thread: "HEAD and CLEAR in Tynagh" that mentions a Head Family. One of the replies is from Therese the Tynagh Parish Laison Officer - Tynagh1 Galway. She mentions that there are still Heads (Headds) living in Carhoon.

I know that this is a long shot, but I am trying to find out if anyone knows anything about the relationship between the Head and Treacy Family's from the early 1800's. I have many records for Patrick & Nicholas Treacy and their children, but know nothing about any Treacy other siblings or their Parents.

Hopefully a member of the Head Family from Carhoon might have some information unknown to me, who knows?

Regards,

Jim Treacy

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked at our current list of active parish liaisons and I don't see anyone for Tynagh parish. Let me contact our HQ and see if they have any alternative parish liaisons.

  • Roger,

Thanks, if there is no Tynagh Parish Laison maybe someone from Tynagh who know the Head Family from Carhoon will respond.

    Regards,
