I refer to request by Nicolle Curtright dated the 12th of February,2016 and subsequent correspondence between Nicolle and ColCaff. I am a descendent of the Scott Family of Bohermore[Tooreen Castle],Ballybricken ,Co.Limerick. After years searching I found their grave dated 1824 in Inch St.Lawrence Cemetery,Caherconlish,Co.Limerick.If Nicolle contacts me I can give her further details. This is my 1st time posting on the Ireland Reaching Out website. It appears to be an excellent way of contacting long lost relatives.

  • Greetings!  Thank you so much for reaching out, I truly apprecaite it.  Here is where I am stuck...

My 4th Great Grandfater is Richard Scott born in Limerick in 1814 and died in Minnesota July 28, 1879.  He was married to Mary Cahil (his first wife) in 1835 in Limerick and had Hanorah Scott in 1836 in Limerick.  I am not sure who Richard' parents are.  There are 2 possiblities I have found thus far. There is a baptism record on January 11, 1814 of a Richard Scott and lists his parents as Michael (Michl) Scott and Mary Halvey and there is another record for a baptism on January 23, 1815 listing the parents as George Scott and Mary Sheehy.  So I am trying to determine what baptism record is correct.  I also have tried to look for info on both sets of parents and have not been successfull at finding anything and would like to know where our Scott last name originated from.  Any help you can provide, would be apprciated.  Thank you in advance.  Have a wonderful day!

  • Nicole,

George Scott/Margaret  Sheehy's son Richard arrived in Australia in 1841. He is my great great grandfather. So he's taken so to speak. Thanks to your post I was able to find Richard's Baptism info. I knew he was from Limerick but where? Good luck with your searching.

    Best regards,

    Terry Scott

  • I am trying to find an Ellen Scott who may be Hanorah Scott's sister or cousin. I cannot find which Scott Ellen is related to. Ellen Scott married Michael Allen (my great great grandfather) and Honorah Scott married George Allen (Michael and George are brothers from Lemerick, Ireland), they all lived in Minnesota. On Ellen's grave stone it gives her maiden name of Scott. Ellen was born in New York, I do not think Mary Cayhill Scott ever left Canada. Honorah and Ellen are both buried at St John the Baptist Cemetery in Burnsville, MN. Just wanted to get the Ellen Scott side of names for family tree.

My second great grandfather was Matthew Berry Scott.  He was born in Ireland in 1850 and his parents were John & Mary (Grimes) Scott.  He moved to the US and lived in Ontario, Wayne, New York.   Matthew had many siblings:  Johanna, George, Mary, Sarah and John.  Do you recognize any of the above names?  We were told they lived in the Tooreen Castle.  See the file attached, it looks like George lived on the property later in life.
