I am trying to get the saying correct that my aunt told me her father, my grandfather, would say when visiting folks and was offered a cup
of tea. He said Make my tea strong enough for a rat to trot across . Anyone hear of this saying? is it accurately stated?

The expression I've heard is "I like tea strong enough to trot a mouse."

Well, it's common enough that we've both heard it! I first heard it in County Laois many years ago.
