I searched Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie  in the Nobber RC records. I found two Carolan baptismal records where the parents were Patrick and Catherine. The names were not Christopher and James but tather Thomas(1838) and Michael (1839).

I did locate an 1837 baptismal record fro a Christopher Carolan RC church,. Kilbeg is northwest of Nobber. The mothers name was Catherine but the fathers name was John.

Roots is a pay site to view their transcription of church records. They now require you to purchase a subscription.

I also checked the 1826 Tithe Applotment listings for Nobber parish. There were two Patrick Carolans listed:  one in Cregg townland and one in Whitewood townland. Possibly one of the two was your ancestor.

Thank you for your answer.  I found James's Baptism on 21 Jul 1834 in Nobber in Ireland, Selections of Catholic Parish Baptisms, 1742-1881 on Ancestry.com.  Parents were Patt (sic) and Catty (sic) Carolan.
