Greetings,

Ann and Charles McCallen were residents of Monaghan until they were lost at sea in 1818 in the Indian Ocean. I am trying to learn information pertaining to them and their parents.

I would greatly appreciate help finding this information!

Gratefully,

Rev. Dr. Perry C. McCallen

  • Hi Rev. Dr. Perry,

I realise that you never got a response to your query.

I searched the local paper 'Northern Standard' and the oldest post that I could find related to a death in 1941 as follows:

    Northern Standard 1885-2021, Friday, May 02, 1941

McCALLEN—On April 25th, 1941, at the residence of Mrs. S. R. Henry, Monaghan,. Elizabeth Holmes, oldest daughter of the late James McCallen of Glaslough. Interred at the family burying ground, Glaslough, Sunday, 27th April, 19-11.

I then searched other newspapers but there was no mention of this incident nor did many of them go back that far, you might have better luck with  British papers, I do not have a subscription to them.
