My great-grandparents, Michael Harty and Catherine Brereton Harty, lived for years in and/or near Moneygall.  Between 1838 and 1853, they had 7 children baptized in the Catholic chapel.  The family emigrated to the USA (Chicago) in the late 1850s.  Using Griffith’s Valuation and house records, I’ve located a house (No. 66, located on the north side of the main street) that a Michael Harty rented in the late 1840s and early 1850s from William Hodgens.  The size, location and timing of the tenancy are consistent with what I know about my great-grandfather (probably a builder or construction laborer, not a farmer), but “Michael Harty” was a common name in Tipperary and Kings Co.  If anyone knows that the house in Moneygall was rented by a different Michael Harty, I’d appreciate a quick message.  I don’t want to spin my wheels if I’m looking at the wrong Harty.   Thanks.
