Looking for Gillooly family - John, born 1825

I checked the Roots Ireland indexes and located an 1825 baptismal record for a John Gillooly in the Athleague RC records. The parents were Owen and Celia. I did not find any other Gillooly baptismal records with parents Owen and Celia. Roots is a subscription site. Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would check the Athleague records at that time.

This record did come from Roots and I did join with a fee for the month, but it made the connection I've been looking for for awhile.  Maybe the thing to do now is to wait until the NLI places all of the records out for searching.

Assuming I've made the right connection by census records in the US, using name and age recorded, is it likely I do have a good hit?  With my surname and what I thought would be a relatively small emigrant population compared to today's US population, I would think that a birth record for my forebear's name (John Gillooly, not John Smith) and the year (1825) would be somewhat unique, not sure if you have insights into that.

BTW, where is Phoenix, MD?  Garrett County or nearer to Balto/DC?

I think you have the correct record since the father's name matches and Owen was not that common a name. The only qualifier is that many churches in Roscommon do not have existing records back to 1825. It is always possible, John was baptized in a church that lost their early records sometime in the past.

Phoenix is in Baltimore County about 8 miles north of Towson. We are about 35-40 minutes from downtown Baltimore.

As an aside, my sons and daughters played lacrosse and played quite a few tournaments in your area - down at Boy's Latin and out your way at St. Pauls, Timonium Fairgrounds, and other Baltimore County and Bel Air locations.  You must be near that big reservoir and county parks then?

We live about three miles north of Loch Raven Resevoir.
