I have researched my Nicholson family back as far as 1789 in Cornafulla. This date was the birth of Thoms Nicholson who married Annabelle Dolan in 1811. I cannot find any records for this area prior to what is found in the church records. As far as I know St. Peter's/drum is not included in the Elohim census 1749. Does anybody know if there are older records for the area. The landlords in the area were the hussey walshes. I have some pages from their family records, but there is nothing conclusive in them. Any help would be much appreciated

  • Thanks for that Col,

i have signed up to roots ireland a few times, and found the information you gave me. Thse are the earliest records I have found (in addition to some info that was gleaned from death records in the early 1800s.) I suppose I'm looking for a small miracle. I have access to the Irish newspaper archive, but I haven't found anything there for the pre 1800 period.
