Checking Griffith's Valuation 1856 for Derrylinlough there are only two Lavin's listed, Thomas & Bryan, it looks like two

brothers. Bryan had a son Bryan who married in Swineford 1867, I believe your Bryan comes from the Thomas stem.

Thomas had a son Michael, a possible brother to Bryan who married a Bridget Lavin (same name but different family)

Thanks for the help Brendan. From what I gather Bryans father was called Michael but whether thats correct I don't know. Michael was born in 1835. I found a Michael Lavan born in South Mayo in 1835 and passed away in Swinford in 1885. Plus I saw Swinford is quite close to Derrykinlough. Thank heavens for google maps. lol
