Michael & Catherine (Green) Kenny, Kiltoom, Roscommon, Ireland

I located the baptismal records for Brigid (1842) and Winifred (1843) in the Ballybay RC parish records. I did not locate a record for Patrick. I then looked for marriage records for a Brigid Kenny and a Winifred Kenny in that parish in the 1860s and 1870s. No Winifred marriage records. There were two Brigid marriage records but the fathers names were not Michael.

Of course, the family could have moved outside of the Ballybay parish area. Do you have any more information?

Hi Roger,

Thank you for your help.  I found Bridget and Winifred as well.  I did find Patrick b. 1839 f. Michael and m.Bridget Parker.  A bit later on in 1874 I found both Michael and Patrick with Bridget Parker at two different addresses in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England...quite a mystery.  Wondering if perhaps you were able to find a death record for Catherine Green mother to both Bridget and Winifred?

Death records started in 1864 and Catherine Green would have been shown by her married name. The registration district would be Athlone and I searched all Catherine Kenny death records up to 1901 and did not find a good lead.

Yes I realize there is a bit of a gap there and so
I checked in both Green (Greene) and Kenny.  Even searched directly from the marriage record at familysearch.org and still no luck.  Someday maybe.

I had checked for marriage records earlier with no success. I just checked for death records and di not find a good lead. Maybe they died young before 1864 or possibly they emigrated. Have you tested your DNA?

Hi Roger,

Working on the next generation and what I have is much more secure with dates, etc.  My great grandmother Anne McNulty Kenny gave birth to her first child in 1873.  Not able to find Anne McNulty's birth record.  She was underage when married and backing up the probable date would give approximately 1853 or thereabouts for her birth.  I have gone through the civil docs two or three times and cannot locate anything even remotely close.  Her father was John McNulty as stated on her marriage record to Patrick (Patt) Kenny.  She had two sisters that I am sure about, Mary and Bridget, not able to find them either.  They could have all been born in the 1840's as Mary, Anne's sister was 60 yrs old in 1901.  I need your expert assistance.

Anne was married at the church in Bohola in 1872 so likely that was her home parish at that time. Baptismal records for Bohola RC parish start in October 1857 which is too late for your Anne if she was baptized in that parish..

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a May 17 1856 baptismal record for an Anne McNulty with father John McNulty mother Bridget Price. The RC parish was Killasser which is two parishes north of Bohola. This would make Anne 16 1/2 when married.

There are no McNulty baptismal records in Bohola with father John until 1883.

Unfortunately, it appears no baptismal records are available for Anne and her siblings.

I am going to go back through the files I have found and see if this new info in Killasser area fits in at all.

Continuing efforts to find Anne and Mary yielded to "record keeping" in Meelick Kilconduff parish.  Here is a copy of what was found.  Thanks so much for your help and advice to links.  I would never have found this without your help.  I am going to try and upload the copy I made of the record.

Hi again Roger,

Just to continue on a bit.  I have also found Anne's sister Julia McNulty and her marriage and birth of six children.  The free civil docs site is great.  You do need to have a fairly accurate "start" date to search with but once you find one positive record for your family, you can add and subtract in/out other possibilities.   The free National Library is also good.  The handwritten records are "hard" on the eyesight but works well and records there go back almost to the beginning of the 1800's depending upon where your family lived.
