Edward Tighe, then age 45, and family arrived at Castlegarden, USA on June 10, 1865 on the ship Monarch of the Sea.

His son Thomas, age 14 at the time, went on to marry Margaret Healy and have a son of their own, Michael, my grandfater, in 1881 in Meriden, Connecticut.

I am led to believe Edward, apparently born in 1820 (+/-), came fromTullen townland, Kiltrustan Parish, County Roscommon.

Thus far i have been unable to find out any specific information about Edward, his parents names/ birthdates, etc.

Can you help ??

My thanks.

I'm not the volunteer that Emma mentions in her note. The Mormon Church has microfilmed the RC church records for that area starting in 1830. You can go to www.familysearch.org (see link below), order the film online and have it sent to the Family History Center in Essex (Stemmers Run Road).

I checked the Tithe Applotment listings ( around 1830) for Tullen and there were no Tighes listed. I did see Edward listed in the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings living in Tullen townland.

By the way, I live just north of Baltimore.
