I am looking for information on Thomas Kelley and Mary Kichan. Thomas was born in 1812 in Carrick-On-Suir.  His parents were William Kelley and Mary Egan. His son William Kelley came to America about 1864. He settled in Castleton, Vermont. I believe he had a brother, Thomas, who also came to America. I am also trying to get information on the name Kichan. William's death record lists his parents as Thomas Kelley and Mary Kichan. Thank you for your help!

  • Dana,

The surname Kichan doesn?t appear anywhere in Ireland in the 1901 census, nor in Griffiths Valuation (mid 1850s). So it?s evidently changed between Ireland and the USA.  It might have been something like Keegan or Keehan in Ireland.
