My 3rd great grandparents, James Galligan and wife, Ellen Marshall, are listed as parents of Michael on Baptism records of Cashel & Emly Diocese, Nov 22, 1842, and Margaret in 1846. Any info on James or Ellen would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Hello,

The RC baptismal records for Caherconlish, Limerick begin Jan 1841, and the marriage records Feb 1841. A number of trees on Ancestry (taken with a grain of salt) show additional children for this couple: Ellen, 1825; Mary, 1830; Dennis, 1833; and Richard, 1840. The trees also have approximate birth dates for James and Ellen between 1805 - 1810. There is a record for James Gallagan - Sustainability Loan Fund record of 8 Dec 1843, and the townland is Inch St. Lawrence, Caherconlish, Limerick.

If Ellen is a sibling to Michael and Margaret, she married David O'Neill and they had seven children all born in Inch St. Lawrence, Caherconlish. Two of their children were named James and Mary Ellen.

Sorry, but I could find no information on the parents of James and Ellen.

    Carolyn
