William Tierney b. 1817, In Toomevara, Tipperary, Ireland, died 11 Aug 1853, age 36 in Indiana, Seneca, Haldimand, Ontario. He married Jane New (searching for Jane) and their children were: #1, James, my GGrandfather b. 3 Sept 1841 in Lockport, New York, married Louisa Gelineau 10 Apr 1866 in Oakville Ontario and the lived in Lambton County Ontario. He died 23 Apr 1929. They had 8 children.
Child # 2: Jane baptised 9 June 1843, age 4 weeks, by Rev. M.R. Mills in St. Basil's RC Church, Brantford, born Haldimand Co., Ontario. Searching for Jane.
Child # 3: William born 1845 in Haldimand Co., Ontario. He went to Basalt, Eagle, Colorado, Married Ella T Scott and had 5 children. William died 18 Apr. 1897.

The RC records for Toomevara do not start until 1831 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0810 so a baptismal record for William is likely not available..
Based on the location for Toomevara RC parish and looking at 1825 Tithe Applotment data, William likely came from Aghnameadle civil parish but without knowing his father's name, we could not determine the townland.
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

Hello Madigan,
My 4 x Great Grandmother was Margaret Tierney born in parish of Aghnameadle, Toomevara in about 1780 to 1790 by my estimate. I don't know who her parents or siblings were. Have you done your DNA on Ancestry by any chance?
