McCarthy Family

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located a October 30 1849 marriage record in the Aglish RC church for John Carthy and Catherine Brien. Catherine lived in Villierstown. There were baptismal records for James 1851 Mary 1856 Margaret 1860 Patrick 1863 Hanorah 1866 Catherine 1868 The family in 1868 was living in Ballingowan townland in Aglish civil parish.

I will look further for other baptismal/birth records.

Let me know if you believe this is the correct family since the names don't match up in all cases.

I can't be a 100% sure I do know my Grt Grandfather definitely had a sister Mary that I can confirm,  and possibly Patrick I have there parents as Margaret Power, John Mc.Carthy/ Carthy . All though the dates for the wedding might be a little early as I had him born about 1840 but that's not confirmed so its possible that is my grt grandfather   my grand Aunt Margaret was Married to Jack/John Draddy and my grand uncle Timothy was married to Margaret Cashman and Elizabeth moved to America and a Brown then other than my grandfather his Brother Florence married but no children . Also I believe my grt Grandmother her mother was a  kierney I think that's how it spelt.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate a John McCarthy baptism around 1840 with the parents you listed. I did find a potential Catherine O'Brien baptismal record with a mother Kearney.

June 6 1845 baptismal record for Catherine O'Brien father Thomas O'Brien mother Brigid Kearny RC church Ballylooby.

Not sure where we go from here. Maybe the 1849 record is not correct. I did not locate a Margaret Cashman marriage to a Timothy McCarthy and there were no John Draddy marriage records.

That's definitely my grt Grandmother and my grt grt Grandparents 100% so at least we have something. 

 

Hi Roger Alimac, I found correct marriage for John Mc Carthy and Catherine Kate O Brien Ballyere 15th Feb 1868 Killeagh parish Co Cork. John aged 23 Catherine aged 24. Catherines father was Timothy her mother may have been a Keniry lady also Killeagh parish, I dont have a subscription to check. John was from Curraghreigh Tallow parish Co Waterford. This would give Johns birth year as 1845. Unfortunately Tallow baptisimal records from 1842 to 1856 have been mislaid. Roger you may be able to check for a marriage for a John Carty McCarthy 1830s 1840s Tallow or Lismore parish possibly to a Margaret Power or children of same including Florence or Mary. Thanks p.s. I  have made contact with Timothy McCarthy granddaughters Patrick McCarthy children they live in Waterford I am been telling them about our family  they knew very little about the family as there Father didn't speak about it , but neither did mine,  I said we are related to Mick McCarthy footballer and Danny McCarthy of the pipe band but how I am not sure also because I lost my phone I lost all the information you gave me could you fill me in with it , Kindest regards Allison
