    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched Roots Ireland in Co. Westmeath from 1835-1855 for a Thomas Quinn baptismal record with a father John and mother Catherine and did not find the record. Here is a link to the online RC parish register for Multyfarnham http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0950 You may want to search for the record. Was their religion RC?

The 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing did not show any Quinn records.

  • Thank You very much Mr mcDonnell-Yes they were RC. The RC. parrish link does not have the year 1845 for Baptisms.Do you know if this is because the documents are lost or is it because they have yet to be posted and will be at some time in the future? I also checked for marriages of his parents just before 1845 for Catherine Maher and John Quinn, but those records are not there either. Best Regards,Richard

  • Dear Mr. mcDonnell, On the Griffiths Valuation of Ireland Link that you sent me -I found The name of Thomas Quinn's Mother- Catherine Maher with the indication Donore beside Westmeath. Can you tell me if Donore is the name of a town? Does this mean she owned property? Should I be looking in the Donore parrish.Any clues would be helpful. Thanks again Richard

The 1845 baptismal records are there. Hopefully this link will take you to the records.

Donore is a townland within Multyfarnham parish. The Catherine Maher you found is not the mother of your Thomas Quinn. If John Quinn had died then his widow Catherine Quinn would be listed. Now it is possible that Catherine Maher was the widowed mother of Catherine Maher Quinn.
