William and Martha Medcalf left Delgany, County Wicklow in 1819 and arrived in Bayham Township, Ontario. William was born around 1773. He had 8 children, William, Theophilus, Edward, Francis Henry, 3 daughters and John. We have spent much time trying to find more Ireland information but have drawn a blank as to their lives in Ireland before emigrating to Canada.

I think you are in luck. Roots Ireland is a subscription site and I located a transcription of the baptismal record for young William in 1813. Record says they lived in Downs which must have been a place name at that time but is not an official townland now. I have a limit on how many records I can search for. Can I suggest you go to www.rootsireland.ie and sign up for a one month subscription and search for the other records? I can see records for at least four siblings. Possibly one of the records will show Martha's maiden name.
