Arthur Wilkinson m. Elizabeth Wiley late 1790$ early 1800s.  They lived in Poyntzpass and emigrated from there to Simcoe County in what is now Ontario Canada, c.1830, with their 4 sons William, John, Arthur, and Unknow, and 3 daughters, Sarah, Matilda, and Unknown.  Looking for parents of this couple, any C.of I. BMDs., Arthur was a military pensioner.

Arthur witnessed a murder in 1828 In Poyntzpass, he testified.  The perpetrators were convicted, and later his thatched roof was set afire, all escaping.  I learned this information researching newspaper articles of the time.

  • There are 2 Church of Ireland churches in Aghaderg. Aghaderg itself has baptism, marriage and burial records from 1814. Scarva lost it’s early records in the 1922 fire in Dublin. They have baptisms from 1877, marriages and burials  from 1851. The Aghaderg records have been copied and are in PRONI, in Belfast. The surviving Scarva records are still held by the church.
