The programme is based on a simple idea; reverse genealogy. Instead of waiting for people of Irish descent to trace their roots, Ireland XO volunteers worldwide are networking with people of Irish descent in their local areas, helping to build bridges between the present and the past by connecting people with the home parishes of their ancestors.
Ireland Reaching Out is a volunteer-based, non-profit initiative that builds vibrant, lasting links between the global Irish Diaspora and their parishes of origin in Ireland. We'd love to get in touch with any organisation around the world who are involved in the area Irish heritage and genealogy.
Adding a building to the Ireland XO Chronicles will increase what we know about the homes and workplaces of a parish and who might have lived or worked there. Ireland XO members can share what they know about the houses their ancestors lived and worked in and make that information available both to the local community and to other descendants around the world.
Adding a person to the XO Chronicles will increase what we know about the people who once lived or were descendent from a parish and from Ireland. It is a place where people can share what they know about their ancestors and also make information available both to the local community and to other descendants around the world.
Volunteering with Ireland Reaching Out means that you make a difference as every one of our volunteers brings something special to the Programme. Here you can find out more about the various volunteer roles available. We have a role for everyone, so please get in contact if you would like to help.
