We are working on this parish page and will add content here shortly. Feel free to post your message and we will respond as soon as possible. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organised.
Thank you This parish is in the barony of Ardes, where its 3 miles from Portaferry, and it totals a population of 2176 people. The region takes its name known as Ard Coyne because of its location of the lake shore, that was called Lough Coyne, the irish used to form a battlefield there seen that the Danes would come over to take over the land, In the process the locals succeeded but they failed to fight off the British as they surrendered the throne. That's why there are checkpoints stationed all over the borders between the two nations.
