This known parish in the county is in the barony of Upper Iveagh. It contains the post town of castle wellan and holds a mass population of 6921 people, there is a lot of sand in the region of Murlough and its constantly drifted from Dundrum bay. There are also severel quarries of granite rock, lead and zinc. Near the town is the mountain of Sleive Croob. 360 pupils are educated in a primary school in the location.
