  • Dear Stephen

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I am a bit confused, can you confirm the following is correct:
Michael Blackwell b. 1852 and Ellen Merner born 1850 married i 1873. They had a son Patrick.

How does Patrick Roche fit into this?

Rootsireland has both the church and civil marriage record of the couple, who married as you say in 1873. The civil marriage record should record their fathers' names at least and will take you back a further generation as well as the townland and parish. Using this, you can search for Michael and Ellen's baptism details. The fact that the name is not very common will be helpful to you. As this is a subscription site, I am limited in what I can see.

Children born to the couple are listed as:
    Catherine, 1874
    James, 1877
    Pat, 1879
    Catherine, 1880

Let me know what you think.

    Best wishes
    Clare
