Hi! My wife and I will be visiting Ireland for the first time at the end of May first week of June.I have a lot of Irish blood and am very interested in seeing any ancestry that I can find in Ireland.I can trace back to my 4 time Great Grandfather Patrick Fallon who was born in Dysert about 1770. He had married a Mary Raftery who was born in Cortoon ,Dunmore Cty. From there it goes:
GGG GF Patrick Fallon b. 1815 Tiaquin,Abbeyknocky
GG GF Patrick Fallon b. June 1841 Tiaquin, married Ann Stapleton b. 1843 Kilkenny
G GF William Patrick Fallon B. Jan. 4, 1867, married Catherine Doherty . b. Nov. 1863
GF James Patrick Fallon b. July 22,1900
We are going to look for the O'Fallon Cemetery and the ruins of a castle in that area. Would love to meet a distant cousin! Anyway would love any suggestions or feedback. I am also related to Fitzgeralds. Thank you! Ed and Lora Henry

Dear Ed & Lora:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and many thanks for your query to the message board.
There is a graveyard in Abbeyknockmoy which has been recorded and photographed by Historic Graves. You can check it out through their website. The graveyard is known as Abbey and is located in Abbeyknockmoy.
As to your Fitzgerald connection, do you have any names? I will contact a local volunteer about more information.
We would love to be able to meet you on the ground. Let us know what we can do.
KInd regards,
Jane.

Hi Jane! Thanks for the tip on the graves! I'm going to check that out! Yes I would love to see a grave of an ancestor or see structures they lived in. Probably most of all meet a distant cousin! As far as the Fitzgeralds go,they were from the Shanballymore village in the mid 1800's.Edmund Fitgerald married Ann Hannan on Sept. 8,1864.They were my GG Grandparents! Iam also working onsurnames Gillan,Brady,Stapleton (in Kilkenny)and Doherty... Thanks again Jane! Ed and Lora Henry

Dear Ed & Lora:
Thank you for the further information. We have a volunteer in the Kildorrery area which is close to Shanballymore. I will contact her about your message to see if she has further information to add.
Kind regards,
Jane.
PS Historic Graves also has done a lot of work on Cork graveyards. You might keep this in mind for the Shanballymore area.

Dear Ed & Lora:
That is a good idea. The more places that it is posted, the more likely you will get some new information.
Let me know how you get on.
Kind regards,
Jane.
