I believe John King (DOB 1858) and his wife, Catherine KIng (born Parke - DOB 1861) we're originally from Connaught County.  John King's parent's were Thomas King and Rachel King (maiden name Hughes).   Catherine Parke's parent's were William Parke and Eliza Parke (maiden name Baird).  I would like to find out if anyone knows which town/city they may have originated from.  They both emigrated to Glasgow, Scotland and were married on May 7,1881 in Paisley, Scotland.

Connaught is actually a province in the West of Ireland consisting of five counties: Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.

Since John and Catherine were both born prior to civil registration (1864), I went to Roots Ireland  www.rootsireland.ie  for baptismal records or marriage records for their parents. I was not able to locate any possible records.

I also looked at the (1855-1858) Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the five counties for William Parke and Thomas King. There were only 2 William Parke records both in Co. Leitrim. There were 33 Thomas King records including 20 in Co. Galway. Use www.askaboutireland.ie to search the Griffiths for free.
