looking for any family info regarding Patrick Timiney born Ireland 1831.
he was my GGG Grandfather, I have traced him back as far as I can
to Glasgow, stayed in Parliamentary Rd now demolished,
but have not got anywhere as to where he was born
He married Catherine Docherty

The surname was more likely Timony, Timoney or Timmony. See http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/
Those names were found primarily in Donegal, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Mayo.
I checked Roots Ireland which is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record. www.rootsireland.ie
I located an 1829 baptism record for a Patrick Timony or variant in Co. Tyrone. Without having the parents names, it would be difficult to confirm. Also many churches do not have records going back that far.
