I am trying to locate the area where my maternal Grandfather was born and grew up. His name was Patrick John Roche born 1890 and died in Southern Rhodesia in 1958. He served duing the First World War in East and Central Africa and remained in Rhodesia after hostilities never to return until his ashes were scattered by his second wife in the Cork area. I would like to find out about his early life and when he chose to leave for overseas.

There was only one Patrick Roche born and registered in Co. Cork in 1890. If you are certain that is the correct year of birth, you can get a copy of the record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. If you plan to get a copy let me know and I will forward instructions.
