In St. John's Cemetery., Old Knockainey, there are three Raleigh gravesites (historicgraves.com). Thomas Rawleigh of Mough, d. 1779, along with other family members including Thomas Raleigh of Drumcomogue, d. 1830, are buried at one gravesite. This is my grandfather's family. Next to it, is a gravestone for Patrick Rawleigh of Mough, d. 1770, and his descendants that include Patrick Raleigh of Duntryleague, d. 1844. The other gravestone also includes members of the Raleigh family of Duntryleague.
I am wondering if there is a record of unmarked graves for this cemetery. I understand some of my Raleigh family is buried at this cemetery in unmarked graves.
*Patrick Raleigh of Drumcomogue, Tipperary d. 1919
Anna Purcell Raleigh of Drumcomogue d. 1941 (Patrick’s wife)
Their sons:
Patrick Raleigh of Drumcomogue d. 1958
Thomas Raleigh of Drumcomogue d. 1961
John (Jack) of Drumcomogue d. 1969
Possibly Patrick’s* parents:
Patrick Raleigh of Drumcomogue d. 1872
Mary McCarthy of Drumcomogue d.1877
I would appreciate any assistance you can provide- Mary

Hi Mary,
I think the family you are looking for could be buried in Emly graveyard - see the link below.

Jim-
Thank you for responding. I did not find my family on the link you provided. I have a book with all the gravesites in Emly Parish listed. I do know that Thomas Raleigh, a cousin, was buried in the Emly Parish graveyard along with his father Matthew. I know, based on my parents being brought to Old Knockainey in 1973, that Ann Purcell Raleigh was buried there. I have also been told that three of her sons are there. There is actually a memorial remembrance about her son Jack Raleigh in the Emly Parish GAA book referencing his burial in Old Knockainey. Their sister was buried at the Emly Parish cemetery.Thank you for reaching out- Mary

Because I was following the posts on this site, and followed the suggestions for searching, I searched the Historicgraves site and found the grave stone of my 3xgreatgrandfather, Maurice Kirby of Emly. Thank you for directing me to this amazing find!

I was glad you were able to find your family's gravesite. I have found Historicgraves to be an useful resource in researching my family. I was at Old Knockainey Cemetery in 2003 in search of my family's grave stones. Even with the help of the caretaker and his hurling stick used to push back vines, I was not able to find them. I was delighted when the Historicgraves site came on line.
