Robert baptsied in Rathkeale parish, Limerick on 13-Nov-1745 (father Henry, mother Mary). I cannot find a baptism for Ann for that period. Have you considered contacting the Representative Church Body to see if they can provide some further info on John?

There is a tradition that when a marriage takes place  then a new family  name , be it forename or surname, is passed on  to the next generations.

In fact, Robert occurred fairly often in my  (Maam Cross, Galway)  family line , as well as in outliers.

Mind, books are  written about  fashions and the  motivation of naming of offspring !
