Looking for any information of McGuigan family in Drumhillagh/Drumshanny that changed their name to Goodwin.
The children of Peter (b. ca 1814 d. ca 1884) and Mary nee McNally (b. 1832 d. 1898 ) are Catherine, Daniel, Edward, Patrick, Peter, Mary, Roseanna, Philip, Elizabeth and Margaret.
This family changed their name to Goodwin and immigrated to NY City in 1866 where Roseanna and Philip were born, and then returned to Drumhillagh about 1874 where Elizabeth and Margaret were born.
There is a record of an Arthur Goodwin as a baptism sponsor for Margaret in 1877. The address on the record is given only as Drumhillagh and Parish/District is Tydavnet. There is an Arthur Goodwin in Drumshanny ilsted on the 1860 Griffiths Valuation. His wife may have been Catherine Beagan/Beggan.
It is believed that Peter Sr. died in about 1884 and possibly some of the children died between 1874-1884 in Drumhillagh. Mary Sr. returned to NY in 1884 with Philip, Elizabeth and Margaret and lived there until her death in 1898.
Any information about this family would be very helpful.

As you can see from the link below, Tydavnet/Tedavnet is a Civil Parish in Co. Monaghan:

Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Tydavnet begin in 1835 for baptisms and 1825 for marriages. There are some gaps in the series though for marriages between 1865 and 1876. Church of Ireland records begin in 1822.
I took a look at www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) and there are 4 marriage records for a Mary McNally to a husband first named Peter in Co. Monaghan. Two of these may fit ? a marriage in 1860 and another in 1865. I didn?t search under McGuigan/Goodwin given the confusion about the change in the surname. You may find that none of these records are relevant but as there are only 2 it might a good idea to have a look. On that site there are also records of children that may be relevant. There are two baptism records for example; for an Elizabeth McGuigan in 1858 and an Elizabeth Maguiggan in 1846.
