    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

There are some places where you can search online, however these websites do not have complete collections and many do not cover the period after 1900:

www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.

www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However, so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.

    http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-a…

This site also includes the index for civil records from 1845 for non-cathoics and 1864 for the remaining population

Other important sources include the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith?s Valuation. Even though these sources only record the head of the household, the information is very important and can be valuable:

    Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1837): http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/index.jsp

    Griffith?s Valuation (1847-1864): http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

The National Archives of Ireland: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ you can search the 1901/1911 Census on the National Archives page too, for instances of the family name at that time

Remember to post any new information that you find here. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Best of luck with your search

  • Hello There,

I have been researching my Trimble ancestors and I have found a Peter Alexander and Catherine ( nee Devlin ) Rafferty had a daughter called Mary Ann Rafferty born in 1836, in 1861 she married Robert Trimble born in 1835,   they had 9 children.  Does any of this fit into your family tree?

    From Robert.

  • Hello Fellow Researcher,

I am trying to help a very distant relation who lives in Australia,

( he has had a stroke and is unable to continue with his own reseach )

As I understand it his great, great, great, grandfather was John Trimble born in 1769 in Aghalurcher,

died in 1867, he married Mary  ????? born in 1774, died in 1857, they had 6 children.

One of these was  William Trimble born in 1798, died in 1878, he married Sarah Beacom ( or something similar ) born in 1809 died in 1876, they had 10 children,

One of these was Henry Trimble born in 1844, died in 1908, he married Mary Elizabeth Irvine born in 1848,  died in 1936, they had 11 children.

The eldest of these was William John Trimble born in 1875, died in 1947, he married Lilly Gertrude Thomas born in 1876, died in 1942, they had 12 children.

One of these was Mostyn Trimble born in 1916, died in 1977, he married Vera Ruth Gray born in 1922.

They had a son born in 1946 in Australia.

I am not sure when or which member of the Trimble family went to Australia.

So if anyone can help with my request to contact some of these Trimble relations that would be great.

    Thank you from Robert.
