Hi!

Patrick Killian emigrated to Argentina in 1854 with his brother Michael.

According to records from Argentina Patrick was born about 1832 and Michael in 1829, and came from Loughnavalley, Co. Westmeath. Sons of John and Kathleen, who died in Ireland before 1858.

Patrick and Michael married to the sisters Julia and Anne Keena, who emigrated to Argentina in 1856. Daughters of Anne, born in 1818 and Owen, born in 1803, both died in Argentina.

According to records from Argentina Julia was born about 1834 and Anne in 1837, and came from Milltown, Irishtown and Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

Any information is appreciated.

Greetings from Patagonia Argentina

  • Hi Marcelo
There are baptism records for Anne and Julia Keena in Westmeath on www.rootsireland.ie/ (a site which charges)
Both are from Milltown Parish and both have father Owen but mother is ELLEN not Anne; Julia is 1835 & Anne is 1838

There is a baptism record for both Patrick and Micahel KILLION; Patrick is 1831 & Michael is 1838 but the parents are not John or Kathleen & the parish is not one of those you mentioned or Mullingar (Loughnavalley)

  • Thank you very much Col!

I forgot to tell that Patrick Killian and Julia Keena were my great great grandparents.

They got married in Argentina in 1856, and in the marriage act says that Eugenio (Owen) and Ana were Julia's parents, but maybe there's a mistake (they didn't speak spanish). I'm sure the baptism record you've found is correct. Do you know how can I see that record (without paying!)?

Respect Patrick and Michael Killian, they were brothers of John, Thomas and Edward, and maybe Mary and James were their siblings too. Maybe it helps in records search.

    Kind regards

    Marcelo

  • Hi Marcelo,
Probably too late responding now, but I am still living in Westmeath. My gg grandparents were both Keenas, from Ballymore in County Westmeath. The Eugene /Owen name features as he is my gggf but he seems to have been born in 1823. My gg grandparents lived in Argentina on 2 occasions between 1881 & 1888 and again between 1891 & 1900,featuring in the Argentina census. They had children born both in Ireland and Argentina. My belief is that they had relation in Argentina. Hope you see this.
