I am trying to find out more information about a Christopher Wilson that lived in Johnstown (Ardcavan). There is a record of one in the Tithe Applotment books from 1833. I think this may be my 4 x Great Grandfather.

My 4 x Great Grandfather was married to Jane Jeffers & had a son (also Christopher Wilson), so Im trying to confirm that this is the same person as I am not exactly sure of the townland in Wexford that my 4 x Great Grandfather lived. My 3 x Great Grandfather came out to Australia in 1854.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I'm going to assume your ancestors were Chruch of Ireland. This link shows you the status of C of I records and the entry for Ardcavan refers you to Ardcolm. The entry for Ardcolm indicates that the records go back to the 1700s and are held in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. It appears they will check records for a fee but you will need to contact them.

The RC records for that area start in October 1832. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0587
