I do not know who Mary Kehoe's parents or siblings were in Tintern, Wexford Ireland.

There is a Patrick Kehoe in Kings COve around 1815 who was said to be from Tintern but I am not sure about that.

Any leads on Mary Kehoe born circa 1810 in Tintern, Wexford will be appreciated

  • Denise:

Mary Kehoe was a very common name in Co. Wexford in the 19th century.

Unfortunately, the RC baptismal records for Tintern/Ballycullane parish start in 1827  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0573  so if she was baptized in that parish a record would not be available.

We do have an XO Chronicles site  https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy and maybe you or Blake could add a Chronicle on Mary Kehoe.

One suggestion for Blake would be a DNA test and possibly he will have a match with someone who also has Kehoe ancestors and more information on the family.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • It might be possible to gain some information indirectly about Mary by looking at land records. However, this could only be done effectively if the Tintern birthplace refers to the townland of Tintern (as opposed to the much wider church or civil Parish). If it is Tuntern townland, then there are a Denis and a Thomas listed in the Tithe Applotment records and in the Valuation Books as living there in the 1830s and 1840s. However, by 1853 Thomas's house is in the hands of Catherine Kehoe, and she is still the tenant listed in Griffiths Valuation in 1853. Her house appears to be located very close to the Police Barracks, slightly to the NE of Tintern Abbey. Its possible that Denis, Thomas and Catherine were relations of Mary.

    All very tenuous, I fear.
