  • My husband's 4th Great Grandfather was George Bellew.  He was baptized on 2 Oct 1795. in Nobber, Meath. I found his baptism records on the National Library of Ireland's site and on Findmypast.ie.  Have you checked these sources to locate Ann?

  • I just found your Ann on Findmypast.com.  She was baptized on 25 Feb 1791 in Navan, Meath.  Her Father is Patrick Bellew and her mother is Mary Magrath.  Here's the link to the church records. http://registers.nli.ie//registers/vtls000635253#page/1/mode/1up

  • My 4 times tr. grandfather was Patrick McKenna who was married to an Ann Bellew. They had 4 children born in Drumconrath Co. Meath, all baptised in the Catholic Parish Church there. They were Jane born 1825, Bernard born 1827, Patrick born 1827 and Anne born 1835. This could be the same Ann Bellew. My 3 times Gt Grandfather was Bernard who moved to Leeds in Yorkshire England. Anne (Anna) married Philip Brogan and moved to Nobber and then to the USA.

    Hope this helps

  • TotallyLostInIreland, it looks like you might be related to my husband.  George is his GGGG Grandfather and Ann Hand was his GGGG Grandmother.  Have you done a DNA test?  I'd love to prove that my research was correct.  He's related through daughter Catherine Bellew baptized 10 Apr 1817, who married Hugh McCormick and their son John, b.1827 who married Mary Hand 8 Feb 1851 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England.

  • Hi from Maureen Mc

I have not got antwhere near as far back as you. I have been trying to find the marriage of Anne Bellew to Patrick McKenna, but have not found it yet. I haven't looked into the Bellew side as I still have many questions on the McKenna side.  I have not had a DNA and not sure about them.

Your info. though does add to my knowledge. I am presuming that your George born circa 1795 was the brother of Anne Bellew who was my GGGG Grandmother. I will try to locate the birth or baptism of Anne. PS Anne's son Patrick was born 1829 not 1827 as previously stated.
