Migrated to/Born in USA

Born to Martin Pender and Mary Delaney of Rossmore (Queens-Laois). The birthdate is sometime in 1865. However, the specific date in the church records at St Claire's in Graiguecullen is missing. For unknown reasons, no birth or baptism events were recorded in the Parish Register between January and April 1865. Eventually, Anna emigrated to the USA. The 1900 Census of the USA states her birth date as March 1865. Another unknown date is when she left Rossmore for the USA. Family lore holds that she travelled with her brother John Lawrence Pender on the Germanic in 1887. However, she had to be in the USA two years before then. In1885 she married Samuel Wilson in Detroit. Also, no trace of Anna is found on the ship manifest in 1887 (although John is listed). Her death record indicates that she had been in the United States for 55 years, making her arrival in 1885, which is possible if the wedding was shortly after her arrival. The 1900 census says that she immigrated in 1879. But, she would have been 14 at the time and travelling alone. It’s unlikely that 1879 is accurate. Anna married Samuel Wilson of Detroit Michigan in 1885. Samuel dies in 1904. A second wedding took place in 1908 to Edward Frick of Detroit Michigan. She died 13 February 1940 in Detroit.
