BIRTH
Catherine Fitzgerald was baptized on January 24, 1816, in Tiershanaghan (Tiershannon) Townland. The townland was in Ballyheige Civil Parish, Causeway (Killury) Catholic Parish (Ballyheige), County Kerry, Ireland. The Diocese was Ardfert and Aghadoe (Kerry). Her father was John Fitzgerald. Her mother was Mary Fitzgerald (and a maiden name, if different from her married name, was not provided on their daughter's baptismal record).
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY OF CATHERINE FITZGERALD DINNEEN
In a few townlands west of Tiershanaghan Townland was located the birthplace of Catherine's future husband. Catherine Fitzgerald married John Dinneen in 1832 in Ballyheige Civil Parish, Causeway (Ballyheige) Catholic Parish in County Kerry, Ireland, and probably in Tiershanaghan Townland, her hometown. They had five children during their marriage: Mary, Catherine, Patrick, John, and John [sic]. As of 2021, no years of death of the two sons named John had been found. However, their baptismal records reported that they were baptized in Tiershanaghan Townland, Ballyheige Civil Parish, Causeway (Ballyheige) Catholic Parish.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY OF CATHERINE DINNEEN FLAHERTY
Catherine's daughter, also named Catherine, married John Flaherty. The Flahertys settled in Slievenavadoge Townland in the Civil Parish of Clogherbrien located southeast of the Causeway Parish in the Spa Catholic Parish. The mother and married daughter lived about ten miles apart.
DEATH
Catherine Fitzgerald Dinneen, died after 1844, the year of birth of her last child, in County Kerry, Ireland and probably in Tiershanaghan (Tiershannon) Townland, Ballyheigue Catholic and Civil Parishes. A descendant estimated that the actual year of her death was 1874 (ten years after her husband's death). In 2021 no information about Catherine Fitzgerald Dinneen's death was available from the Tralee Registration District.
BURIAL
The location of the gravesite of John Dinneen and Catherine Fitzgerald Dinneen was probably in Killury Cemetery of Causeway. The list of graves there included the Dineen (Dinneen) Family according to the photographer of "Graveyards of Ireland."
